What to know about open enrollment.

Open enrollment is the period each year when you’re allowed to start, stop or change your health insurance plan. Normally, you sign up around the end of one calendar year for coverage that lasts the full next year.

When can you sign up for health insurance?

Plan Type Open Enrollment
Individual & Marketplace Health Plans November 1st – January 31st
Employer Sponsored Plans Dates Depend on Employer
Medicare October 15th – December 7th

If you’re interested in purchasing health insurance on your own, you have several options for purchasing a policy:

1.) Off the Exchange: A Mission One Agent can quote you out for individual insurance directly with the carriers.

2.) On the Exchange: A Mission One Agent can assist you with signing up for a SHOP plan with the Federal or State Health Insurance Exchange.

Life happens, and when it does, your health coverage may have to change. If you experience a qualifying life event that affects your insurance needs, you can take advantage of a special enrollment period.

• Marriage, divorce, or legal separation

• Adoption or birth of a child

• Taking or returning from a leave of absence

• A change in your work schedule that causes you to gain or lose coverage

• Change in residence or work location of you or a dependent on the policy

• Death of a spouse or child

• A child on your policy turns 26
